The Football Supporters’ Association chief executive has been a huge advocate for Kick It Out’s cause over the last seven years, a period of massive change in the charity culminating in the recent launch of the five-year ‘Football United’ strategy.
During his time at Kick It Out, he has been instrumental in ensuring supporters are central to the organisation’s work through the successful Fans for Diversity campaign, which is jointly funded by Kick It Out and the Football Supporters’ Association.
Newcastle United fan Kevin, who is also chairman of Blyth Spartans in the Northern Premier League, has been instrumental in advocating for the creation of the Independent Football Regulator and has recently been appointed as a non-executive director.
His huge influence in football was recognised in 2024 when he was awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list for services to football.
Kick It Out chair Sanjay Bhandari said: “On behalf of the Board and the whole team at Kick It Out, I would like to thank Kevin for his enormous contribution to the charity at a crucial time in its history.
“Kevin has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the game and a unique ability to connect with people across all levels from the terraces to the Boardroom.
“We will miss his wit, wisdom and warmth, but we wish him well in his future endeavours and know that he will continue to have an enormously positive impact on the game in his new role at the Independent Football Regulator.”
