About the Job  


Kick It Out, football’s leading equality and inclusion organisation, is looking for a Finance Manager to oversee our finance function and ensure robust systems are in place to support our ambitious growth plans. Working closely with the COO and Senior Leadership Team, you will manage financial processes, reporting, and compliance, ensuring we remain financially resilient and accountable to funders, partners and regulators. 


Responsibilities 


Financial Management & Reporting

- Manage the day-to-day finance function, including cashflow forecasting, payroll, pensions, and supplier payments. 

- Produce accurate financial reports and analysis for the Senior Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, funders, and auditors. 

- Manage budgets and business planning in line with Kick It Out’s strategic priorities. 

- Oversee outsourced bookkeeping, year-end accounts, and the audit process.

Governance & Compliance 

- Ensure robust financial systems and controls are maintained in line with charity finance best practice. 

- Submit annual accounts, Gift Aid claims and Charity Commission filings. 

- Prepare, review and submit accurate VAT returns within statutory deadlines, ensuring all supporting VAT records and documentation are properly maintained for audit purposes. 

- Oversee insurance renewals and risk registers, ensuring compliance with legal, contractual, and grant conditions. 

Stakeholder & Income Support 

- Provide clear, accessible financial updates to internal and external stakeholders. 

- Support the COO with developing new and existing income streams, including grants, donations, and commercial partnerships. 

- Ensure strong financial monitoring and reporting for funded programmes.  

What we’re looking for 

- A strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and the aims and values of Kick It Out.   

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPFA, ACMA) with strong knowledge of charity finance regulations.

- Proven experience managing finance functions, including payroll, forecasting, audit, and reporting to funders and boards.

- Strong understanding of financial systems and controls, with experience using cloud-based software (e.g., Xero, Float).

- Ability to translate complex financial detail into clear, accessible information for non-finance audiences.

- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Experience in developing revenue streams and/or programme financial reporting (desirable).

- All of our roles are fully remote but require travel for monthly away days, relevant events, and meetings, mainly in London but sometimes elsewhere in the UK. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
