Football Club Academy Coach employment and the Premier League Coach Development Programme (PLCDP)

Background
We, in partnership with the Premier League, are seeking to improve the diversity of football coaches in the professional game, making this area more representative of society and our playing population. We are proud to support the Coach Inclusion & Diversity Scheme, supporting professional football to better reflect modern Britain.
The Coach Inclusion and Diversity Scheme, season 2025/26 and 2026/27, will provide a high quality, 23-month fixed term, employment and development programme to one successful candidate.
The full-time academy coaching role, that forms part of this scheme, will see the individual support our Academy on it’s mission to help some of the most talented young footballers in the country to fulfil their potential.
Through this scheme we aim to further diversify the professional game and develop the next generation of football coaches from under-represented backgrounds.
This opportunity is a positive action scheme open to:
- Male coaches from Black, Asian and Mixed Heritage backgrounds
- Female coaches from all backgrounds
What’s Involved?
You will split your time between our Academy and the Premier League’s accredited Coach Development Programme.
While at the Academy you will be part of a team of staff that are responsible for the preparation, delivery and reviewing of our coaching programme across different development phases alongside our multi-disciplinary teams. You will attend Academy training, matches and tournaments, some of which are in the UK, while others are across Europe. You will be enrolled into the Academy’s continued professional development programme and will be supported by an internal Club mentor for the duration of the scheme.
Your Premier League Coach Development journey will also include:

- Workshops and peer learning opportunities
- Access to FA/UEFA qualifications

On successful completion of all programme elements, you’ll be awarded a Diploma in Professional Football Coaching from Leeds Beckett University.
What We’re Looking For
Essential criteria:
- UEFA B Licence
- No prior full-time 1st Team or Academy coaching role at a Premier League or EFL club
- FA Safeguarding Certificate, Emergency First Aid, and Enhanced DBS (before you start)
- Experience coaching one, or more, of the following environments: grassroots, community, education, development centre or part-time academy football settings
- Experience of coaching a team or group of players on a regular basis
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of holistic youth development activities within, or beyond, sport
- UEFA A Licence
