The role
Are you an inspiring football coach with a passion for developing young players?
Burnley Football Club are now looking to recruit to the role of YDP Coach (Schoolboy Program) within our Category 1 academy at a pivotal time of transition and change for Burnley Football Club.
Role expectations
This role supports the Lead YDP Coach in delivering the individual learning programs for an agreed group of children. The role will implement and maintain the Premier League’s EPPP rules and regulations for the Academy.
Reporting to the Lead YDP Coach, the YDP Coach will be expected to:
• Develop / challenge and detail sessions for children across the football club, predominantly in the youth development phase.
• Develop and maintain a positive learning environment to maximise each players learning potential.
• Document each session plan prior to delivery of the coaching session.
• Document session planning and evaluation using the Performance Management Tool.
• Evaluate all coaching sessions, documenting achievement of learning objectives or learning action plan for next coaching session.
• Link all individual and team learning objectives to the Academy Philosophy.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate every coaching session in accordance with the Academy Coaching Philosophy and Academy Coaching Programme (using vocabulary detailed within the Academy Coaching Programme).
• Support across the phase, observation of players and facilitate the matchday program.
• Demonstrate the Academy Coaching Philosophy during the Games Programme.
• Direct and maintain attention to individual and team performance, not the Match result.
• Evaluate all matches, documenting achievement of learning objectives or action plan for next coaching session/Match Day.
• Exhibit touchline behaviour according to the Academy Coaching Philosophy.
• To understand and implement the Club’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role. To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to a safe environment.
• Hold a commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace.
• Demonstrate the Burnley FC values at all times.
• Promote the club brand and ethos in a professional, strong, and positive manner.

An ideal candidate will have:

Essential:
• The FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football.
• The FA Youth Award.
• Prior experience of working in a professional football academy (full-time or part-time).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to quickly build trust and relationships.
• Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and welfare.
• An ability to connect with children.
• A flexible attitude towards working hours and availability on weekends and evenings.
• A friendly, positive ‘can do’ and courteous attitude.

Desirable:
• The FA Level 4 (UEFA A) in Coaching Football.
• FA Advanced Youth Award
