Supporting strategic objectives

  • Devise and implement a strategy for the development of elite women match officials
  • Consult with the WSL and WC clubs, Competition, FA and match officials to ensure that the strategy appropriately reflects their views and the resources available
  • Provide the LT with views on WSL, WC strategic initiatives
  • Lead specific WSL, WC projects in support of key strategic objectives
  • Support the Communications Director in promoting women’s refereeing and the WSL and WC match officials
  • Continually liaise with key stakeholders and advisors in respect of key initiatives
  • Deliver the WSL, WC strategy in support of PGMOL’s objectives, including the planning, management and delivery of key projects • Contribute to the strategic development of PGMOL, using their skills and experience to challenge, change and create plans and projects to ensure PGMOL delivers on its key objective to ‘Provide a world class service, whose match officials are valued and trusted by the game.’ Management of WSL, WC Refereeing Team (‘WSLRT’)
  • Lead, inspire and manage the WSLRT to deliver high-quality service to the WSL and WC
  • Liaise with the Head of Coaching, Senior Coach - WSLRT and coaching team to develop the officials
  • Provide appropriate performance information, advice and feedback to WSLRT officials
  • Ensure technical performance analysis systems are effectively implemented
  • Liaise with the SG Director, SG2 Director, NG Director, Head of Assistant Referees, Head of Coaching and Head of Operations & Administration to organise and contribute to the content of training meetings and events
  • Attend all WSLRT meetings and events
  • Attend SG1, SG2, NGR and Observer as meetings as required
  • Attend matches to monitor the performance of the WSLRT
  • Attend other matches to monitor and contribute to the development of the next generation of WSLRT match officials
  • Prepare monthly and annual performance reports for Leadership Team and Board review Coaching
  • Liaise with the Head of Coaching to oversee the work of the WSLRT coaching team
  • Work with the Senior Coach – WSLRT to implement the annual coaching plan
  • Provide coaching support for selected officials. This includes:
    • Viewing live performances and reviewing video footage for the purpose of creating development action plan;
    • Monitoring performance against agreed actions; and
    • Delivering performance improvements denoted by the officials’ merit table position and other performance measures
  • Provide motivational support and guidance to officials
  • Liaise with the Head of Sports Fitness and Medical and Head of Psychology to incorporate specialist advice in training, development and action plans where appropriate
  • Provide monthly reports and performance assessments
  • Participate in coaches’ meetings Match Appointments
  • Prepare provisional 6 week and match day (weekly) appointments for review
  • Prepare and distribute the final weekly appointments approved by the Leadership Team
  • Analyse and report the appointment profiles to LT monthly
  • Collaborate with the SG Director, SG2 Director, NG Director and FA Head of Refereeing to manage the appointments of those officials who also officiate on their Lists
  • Maintain MOAS records for all appointments
  • Maintain the appointment database
  • Liaise with suppliers to review and approve appropriate officials travel and accommodation arrangements where necessary
  • Agree on officials and team colours on weekly basis in conjunction with WSL and WC General
  • Manage all match day issues as they arise and liaise as appropriate with the Managing Director, WSL and WC
  • Manage the relationship with all WSL and WC Clubs to support PGMOL engagement with the Competitions
  • Manage and lead an annual programme of WSL and WC club visits
  • Support the work of the Communications department
  • Work with the Management Team to develop all PGMOL officials
  • Support the PGMOL Training Programme by attending events and participating in training as required
  • Develop ASPIRE content relevant to the strategic development of elite women officials
  • Attend and participate in the Annual Conference
  • Attend other meetings as necessary including Leadership Team, Management Team, Coaching, Technical Group, Quarterly Review
  • Develop relationships with UEFA and FIFA refereeing
