Kick It Out are teaming up with media giants Eurosport to offer four work experience placements to people aspiring to break into sports journalism.

The week-long placements will provide invaluable experience in one of the most competitive industries.

The initiative has been established through Kick It Out's innovative Raise Your Game series in partnership with the Premier League, which provides career mentoring and opportunities for those looking to work in the game.

Successful applicants will work alongside the Eurosport Digital team, based in Eurosport's Chiswick Office*, and receive hands-on training, shadowing and networking opportunities. A full breakdown of the placement can be seen below.

Anyone with a broad interest in sport with a desire to develop their understanding of the industry, expand their portfolio and gain experience.

  • Day One and Two – News: Shadowing the news editor. The day will entail editing stories that are published by our content partners and getting an understanding of our content management system, writing up stories from scratch and sourcing news from outside sources.
  • Day Three – Feature writing: Developing a written portfolio with opinion pieces and analytical features, under the care of the senior editor of the day.
  • Day Four – Social Media: Shadowing the social editor, to gain an understanding of the various platforms and what content works on them; producing social media-targeted content.
  • Day Five – Video: Contributing to video and/or audio content if proficient on tools used, or gaining an insight into some of our key content formats.

The placements start in June 2021.

The application deadline is May 31. We cannot accept applications after this date.

If your application is successful after initial screening, the first stage of the process will require you to send us video clips of yourself answering a few questions that we will provide for you. More information will be sent to those who are invited to this stage.

Following this, those who are selected to move to the final stage of the hiring process will be contacted within two weeks of submitting video applications to take part in a final interview, held either in our London offices, or via Zoom or Skype.

An expenses payment of £250 is included as part of the placement.
