The role
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Physiotherapist to lead our category 1 academy sports medicine programme. Our state-of-the-art training facility and academy provides an outstanding environment to develop both players and people.
The Head of Academy Sports Medicine will be part of the academy management team and be responsible for the implementation and delivery of a high-quality medical service for all academy players (u9-u23s) as well as leading on the development plans for all full time and part time medical staff across the academy.
Role expectations
Reporting to the Head of Medicine, the Head of Academy Sports Medicine will be expected to:

• To manage and lead the Physiotherapy service within the academy in line with EPPP requirements.
• In conjunction with the Head of Academy Sports Science, be responsible for the extensive design and delivery of the academy sports science and medicine program.
• Manage all full and part time physiotherapists including personal development plans and leading on the appraisal process.
• Ensure all academy games and training (u9-u23) are medically covered as per EPPP requirements.
• Provide evidenced based treatment & rehabilitation to all injured players (U9-U23’s).
• Have a flexible approach to medical cover for the PDP and academy injury clinics if required.
• Have a flexible approach to match day cover for u18/u23 fixtures as per schedule.
• Liaise effectively with the academy coaching staff and wider MDT on a daily basis in order to keep them informed of player availability for academy matches and training.
• Contribute towards maintaining and developing the club’s EPPP Sports Medicine criteria.
• Be responsible for the organisation, development, and implementation of screening (including cardiac screening) for all academy players as part of the process to aid injury prevention strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of injuries and medical interventions as per HCPC and CSP standards us-ing the PMA system.
• Work in a professional manner which promotes equality for both staff and clients.
• Contribute to a multi-disciplinary approach by liaising closely with other departments within the academy.
• Support the Player Care programme operated by the academy and have a good understanding of current best practice within Safeguarding and Welfare.

An ideal candidate will have;

• BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.
• MSc in relevant field (or working towards).
• Membership of the HCPC.
• Membership of the CSP.
• A valid ATMMiF qualification (or FA level 5 equivalent).
• Experience of planning and delivering high quality evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
• Previous experience of managing staff.
• A good understanding of growth & maturation and its implications on the development of athletes.
• Have and understanding of UK anti-doping and the FA whereabouts system.
• A sound understanding of safeguarding and welfare requirements.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
• Excellent presentation, and delivery skills.
• The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• A flexible attitude towards working hours and availability on weekends and evenings.
• A friendly, positive ‘can do’ and courteous attitude.
