Kick It Out works in partnership with Solent University, Southampton, to offer the Equality and Diversity Awareness in Football Award.

This is an online distance learning package and includes regular interaction with tutors, interaction with other participants via forum discussions and the opportunity to demonstrate your learning through preparation for your next career move.

This unique six-unit Award is aimed at professionally developing and educating the future leaders of football and increasing awareness of Kick It Out’s core values. The various activities are designed to develop critical thinking and leadership skills around issues of equality and diversity within a football context. These skills can then be applied to facilitate and enable further inclusive practice throughout the industry.

Can I Apply?

Participation in the course will benefit anyone who currently works, or aspires to work, within the football industry. Participants are supported throughout by a tutor team of staff at Kick It Out and Solent University, receiving specific, one-to-one feedback on their learning as they progress through the course.

Resources and other supporting materials are drawn from real life scenarios, professionals within the game, experts in inclusion and legal specialists in the field of equality and anti-discrimination law.

The course does not have any formal entry requirements. However, applicants will need to be confident in using the written word for background reading, research and to record their learning activities. Most participants will complete the course in around 6-7 weeks, on the basis of between 3 and 4 hours involvement each week.

Launched in 2015, Equality and Diversity Awareness in Football Award has grown exponentially with industry professionals from across County FA’s, English Football League clubs, Premier League teams and beyond benefiting from the online learning.

The Equality and Diversity Awareness in Football Award enjoys growing popularity and is increasingly widely recognised as becoming the industry standard in preparing football’s next generation of leaders to take the game further towards universal inclusion and unlimited diversity.

Successful participants, so far, have included those looking towards their first steps in the industry, professionals from The FA, County FA’s, English Football League clubs, Premier League teams and the Professional Footballers' Association.

Since its inception, 100 have successfully completed the course - another example of the influence Kick It Out continues to have in making football a more inclusive place for everyone.
