The EFL Trust is the charitable arm of the English Football League (EFL), and was established in 2008 to oversee the remarkable and diverse work of their Football Club Community Organisations (CCOs). Over ten years later, providing ‘a football experience for everyone’ is key to EFL’s work and this is reflected in the work of our CCOs. Our core purpose remains to support the CCOs to help us achieve our vision. This is best achieved when the power of both the Football Club and the Club Community Organisation are brought together

At the EFL Trust, we are looking to recruit a new chair who will provide strategic leadership to the organisation as we embark on the next phase of our “Build Back Better” strategy after successfully negotiating our way through the challenges of the last 12 months. It is an exciting time to be joining our Board of Trustees as we re-establish our strategic direction and embark on the next part of our journey.

The EFL Trust provides support, leadership, funding, structure and a collective identity to the Club Community Organisations in its network, enabling a joined up approach to inspire people through powerful projects focusing on health and wellbeing, education and employability and participation and community engagement.

In 2019 the EFL Trust invested over £19 million in our network and employs 62 members of staff who work across the country supporting the 72 community organisations in delivering innovative projects and programmes.

The EFL Trust is now looking to appoint a Chair to lead the Board and support the Chief Executive Officer in providing strategic direction that will allow the EFL Trust to build upon and strengthen its reputation as a trusted partner and key influencer on behalf of our national network of CCOs.

The EFL Trust has made a commitment to improve the diversity and inclusivity of our Board, staff and beneficiaries. As Chair you will play a lead role in driving forward these objectives. You will be an exceptional, experienced leader who is resilient and flexible, with the ability to manage and challenge the Board in a positive way.

The Board comprises of 12 trustees; 4 trustees nominated by EFL, 4 trustees representing EFL, The Football Association (FA), The Professional Footballers Association (PFA) and The Premier League plus 4 independent trustees.

The successful candidate will be required to spend a minimum of 12 days per annum on work for the EFL Trust, including Board Meetings, the AGM, an annual Board away day and at least 4 Board subcommittee meetings per year.
