News & Media News Kick It Out nominated as charity partner for Northwest Football Awards 2018 Ahead of Kick It Out’s 25th anniversary season, the organisation has been confirmed as one of two dedicated charities for the 2018 Northwest Football Awards (NWFA). Alongside The Offside Trust, a charity supporting survivors of child sexual abuse in sport, funds raised on the evening will be donated to both causes. Kick It Out has been a partner for the prestigious awards evening for a number of years, and in 2017 launched the inaugural ‘Promoting Inclusion’ award; recognising individuals, organisations and projects working to diversify football and promote inclusion within the North West. Keeley Baptista, Kick It Out’s Programmes Manager, attended last week’s launch event and spoke about the continued partnership with NWFA: “After the success of the inaugural Promoting Inclusion Award in 2017, we are really proud to have been made an official charity partner of the NWFA, particularly as we move into a season which sees Kick It Out mark 25 years of campaigning for equality in football. “The NWFA provides an excellent platform to raise awareness of the brilliant inclusion work that is being done to make football across the North West more diverse, and we look forward to awarding the winners on the night.” Speaking after the launch party, which saw the Kick It Out anthem performed by the Everycolour Choir, NWFA organiser Laura Wolfe said: “We could not have had a better start to the 2018 NWFA and more than 100 people joined us to celebrate. It’s been an unprecedented season in the north west with a raft of promotions and title wins, but it’s not all about what happens on the field. “The NWFA is all about celebrating the region’s brightest and best in the game, and there are a number of awards that recognise excellence that is achieved off the field.” Nominations for the awards, hosted by BBC’s Dan Walker, are now open.
