News & Media News Kick It Out and Borussia Dortmund unite to tackle discrimination Kick It Out and Borussia Dortmund are delighted to announce a partnership as they unite to tackle all forms of racism and discrimination. To pursue this common goal, the two parties will help to raise awareness for organisations and individuals who are actively engaged in fighting against any form of discrimination. For more than 25 years, Kick It Out has been at the heart of the drive towards equality, inclusion and cohesion for everyone who plays, watches or works in football, while Borussia Dortmund have also been at the forefront in the battle against racism and discrimination in the football community. The club’s commitment to combat racism, antisemitism and homophobia has been recognised globally - in August 2019, UEFA awarded Borussia Dortmund the prestigious #EqualGame Award for the club’s role in promoting diversity, inclusion and accessibility in football. This season Kick It Out launched the#KickItOutGeneration campaign, which hopes to unite everyone who wants football to be more inclusive. If you love the game but don’t like the hatred that sometimes goes with it, then get involved. Throughout the 2019/20 season, Borussia Dortmund will work closely with Kick It Out to create a weekly content series posted on the club’s English Twitter channel @BlackYellow, sharing compelling stories of organisations and individuals that are working to combat all forms of discrimination within and outside of sport. Both entities also commit to extra vigilance against any sort of racist comments or disrespectful behaviour from online users directed towards clubs, players, or fans on the social media platform. "We are very much looking forward to the cooperation with Kick it Out. Together we will use our outreach to draw attention to these important topics worldwide. Borussia Dortmund stands for a diverse society and against all forms of racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination worldwide," Daniel Lörcher, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Borussia Dortmund, said of the partnership starting on 4 November. Rosin Wood, CEO of Kick It Out, added: "We’re delighted to be teaming up with Borussia Dortmund, a club with a global audience and a strong record in promoting equality, inclusion and diversity. Their proactive work in this area is an example for others to follow and we look forward to working with them to promote some of the great work going on to make football a better sport for everyone." To celebrate the announcement, Borussia Dortmund will give away two (2) limited-edition jerseys with the messaging “Borussia Verbindet – Gemeinsam gegen Rassimus” (Borussia Connects – United Against Racism).
