[Community] Bradford primary school celebrates National Book Week

Hill Top Primary School in Bradford are getting a little help from some important people to help them celebrate National Book Week.
A series of events took place in the school this week to promote reading and help inspire talented youngsters from the Low Moor school.
Children's poet and author Nik Toczek gave reading and writing workshops to year five and six pupils and the rest of the school visited libraries in Wyke and Bradford.
The school also welcomed the Lord Mayor of Bradford John Godward and Bradford City defender Zesh Rehman, who shared their passion for books and nursery children were treated to a visit from the mobile libary.
Organiser and literacy co-ordinator Sharon Colman thanked the guests for their involvement and underlined the importance of getting children interested in reading form a young age.
"The children love Book Week and it really fires their enthusiasm to read regularly and independently," she said.
Even the kitchen staff got in on the act by preparing themed meals based on popular stories, so children settled down for a slice of Peter Pan Pizza or the Pied Piper's Potatoes.
Headteacher Des Martin said: "Book week is an embedded event in the Hill Top calendar and it really raises the profile of books and reading right across our school community.
"Encouraging our children to develop a love of books and reading is the main reason we celebrate this event in such a significant way."
