[Community] Multi-million pound fund open to youth centres across the country

Almost 200 million pounds has been made available to improve youth centres, particularly those in deprived areas.
The Myplace programme, funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and delivered by the Big Lottery Fund, opens for applications today (6 May).
Local authorities and charities working with young people in England can apply for grants of between 1 million and 5 million pounds to fund projects.
Beverley Hughes, minister for children, young people and families, said: "We want to put young people in the lead, giving them a real say in delivering safe and high quality places for them to go. Places they can call their own and that give them a chance to take part in a wide range of sports, dance, music and arts activities."
Myplace is part of Aiming High, the government's ten-year youth strategy, which was launched last July to help young people get involved in activities that develop their skills and raise their aspirations.
The programme has two funding rounds: the deadline for 'fast track' applications is on 29 July, while the deadline for 'standard' applications is on 30 September. The first grant decisions are expected to be made in October.
