Mandip Mudhar Memorial Foundation tournament gains momentum
Monday 31 Jul 2006
Football pitches at the Vauxhall Recreation Club in Luton will be awash with colour and buzzing with activity, as teams from all over the country descend on Bedfordshire on the 19th August.
More than 40 teams are expected to register, an increase on last year and the years preceding, and a sign of the Mandip Mudhar Memorial Foundation's (MMMF) growing profile.
The Mandip Mudhar Memorial Tournament (MMMT) is held every year in memory of a keen young football fan who passed away after a road traffic accident on 1st January 2001. As he was such a inspiration to so many that knew him that the MMMF was developed.
Ever since the football-mad youngster passed away, the MMMF, the organisation set-up in his memoriam, has organised a summer football tournament with the proceeds donated throughout the community.
Bobby Mudhar, MMMF chairman, commented:
“The tournament is now an established pre-season part of local and national amateur teams build up to the new season. Not only has the quality of teams that take part improved but the number of teams has increased every year. The tournament also continues to attract teams from all communities thus breaking down cultural and social barriers and strengthens the drive for unity within Luton. Additionally, it provides a platform for young footballing talent within our region.”
Spaces are still available for teams for the tournament that has gained a reputation for its adherence to the values of fair play.
