MWSF 'Born to Succeed' project

MWSF

The Muslim Women's Sport Foundation (MWSF) is due to begin its 'Born to Succeed' project, a unique large scale UK sports project targeting Muslim women and those from BME communities.

In order to ensure the success of Born to Succeed, the Foundation is recruiting for the roles of Project Coordinator and Office Manager.

The MWSF is a single not-for-profit organisation based in London. It is run by a group of dedicated volunteers of diverse experience and backgrounds, with a passion for both sport and fulfilling the aims of the Foundation.

The overarching aim of MWSF is to enable Muslim women to participate in a variety of sports without compromising their Islamic values.

The coverage, facilitation and awareness for Muslim women's sport is virtually non-existent and there are few role models for Muslim women to follow, hence the formation of the Muslim Women's Sport Foundation.

The Foundation is also the official UK body to the International Women’s Islamic Games providing Muslim women with a player pathway to higher competition for those with the ambition to represent Britain.

The Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation has developed a plan for three years beginning mid-2009 for the Born to Succeed project, which will involve four objectives:
> Regular structured training sessions
> School outreach programme
> Research into Muslim women’s participation in sport
> Support to individuals to become coaches and referees

The Foundation's work over the three years will reach over 1000 women and girls from minority ethnic backgrounds.

The project will be delivered by the existing Executive Committee and volunteer workforce, with two part-time Project Coordinators and an Office Manager being recruited at the beginning of the three year period to ensure objectives are being met.

Born to Succeed is supported by a number of people involved within sport, including Nike, England Basketball, the FA, Sporting Equals and the Football Foundation. For further details, please visit mwsf.org.uk

In order to apply for the role of Project Co-ordinator or Office Manager, please send your CV, including contact number, along with a cover letter (no more than 3 A4 pages) detailing how you meet the criteria and what you can bring to the MWSF and the Born to Succeed project.

The deadline for applications is 15 June 2009 and interviews are likely to take place during that week and the week commencing 22 June 2009.

If you have not heard from MWSF by 18 June 2009 please assume that you have not been successful in the application process.
