Prince's Trust and Burnley FC event

Prince's Trust

Youth charity The Prince¹s Trust teamed up with Kick It Out and Burnley FC in a bid to increase local racial awareness on Friday (24th October).

Schools across Burnley joined The Prince¹s Trust and Burnley FC to celebrate the One Game, One Community weeks of action.

Burnley youngsters took part in a football tournament, organised by The Prince's Trust 'Get Started with Football¹ programme, which, it is hoped, will play a significant role in their development as young leaders.

At the same time, it will deliver a strong message of unity through football to the school children taking part.

Workshop
As well as the tournament, young people on The Prince¹s Trust Get Started with Football programme took part in a community cohesion workshop delivered by Burnley Football in the Community.

The course engages socially excluded young people through football and helps them develop the skills, confidence and motivation to progress towards education, training and employment.

The programme is funded by the Premier League, PFA and the Football Foundation.

Opportunity
Kick It Out Director, Piara Powar, said: "The weeks are an opportunity for Kick It Out to highlight the work that we¹re involved in all year round at every level of the game.

"It¹s a time to celebrate the diversity football gives by joining in the range and breadth of both community and club level events that are taking place across the 12 day period.

"Events like this one at Burnley, is a shining example of how different agencies can work together to celebrate the campaign."
