Next week will see two One Game One Community events take place aimed at increasing community cohesion.
Peterborough United will be embracing the One Game, One Community spirit on Monday, with an open access event aimed at increasing 'Unity Through Sport'.
The ‘Unity through Sport’ day, which will be hosted at London Road at 6pm will pull together a panel including Peterborough defender Chris Westwood, former West Bromwich Albion star and FA Consultant Brendon Batson and UK champion ‘football freestyler’ Abbas Farid to discuss issues of discrimination and football's power to tackle them.
Local amateur clubs, grassroots organisations and youth groups will all be in attendance.
Panel member, Ian Wood, Diversity manager for Whitemoor Prison and adviser to Peterborugh’s Race Equality council, said: “The focus of the event will be on youth empowerment and how football can be a tool to help and unite different communities, and individuals.
"The weeks of action give us a perfect platform to do this. We hope to build a long term partnership with local bodies, such as the council, county FA and club, to help do this on a more regular basis.”
Activities will include fans inside and outside football stadiums, player appearances, grassroots clubs, community groups and schools.
