Newcastle United is pledging its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion by backing Kick It Out’s One Game, One Community weeks of action.

The club will be holding its very own day of action at St. James’ Park for the fixture against Manchester City on 20 October as part of a 12-day, nationwide celebration of diversity.

The fixture is one of 1000 events to take place across the country during the weeks of action, from 16 - 28 October. All professional clubs will hold activities to support the initiative, alongside schools, universities and community and youth centres.

Ambassador
Newcastle United have announced Shola Ameobi as their ambassador for Kick It Out’s One Game, One Community weeks of action initiative this month.

Lord Herman Ouseley, Chairman of Kick It Out, commented “The One Game, One Community weeks of action provides a focal point for everyone connected to football, from supporters to players to stand up against discrimination in all its forms.

"The game flourishes when people from all communities, and from all walks of life, are able to participate in it. Club activity like this reinforces the One Game, One Community ethos and is a vital part of the drive for equality at all levels of the game.”

Pivotal
Lord Herman Ouseley, founder of the equality and inclusion campaign, said: “We’re delighted with the appointment of Shola as club ambassador for the weeks of action. Player activity like this is pivotal to the success of the campaign and it shows he and the club are getting into the spirit of One Game, One community.”

And Shola added “Football is a multi-cultural game, you only have to look at our dressing room to see that. Everyone here at Newcastle United is committed to eradicating racism in all its forms from the game. It has no place in sport or society.”

To demonstrate its support of the One Game, One Community message, Newcastle United Foundation will be organising various activities including a Day of Action on Monday 20 October at St James’ Park stadium.
