Manchester United and South Korea star Park Ji-Sung
South Korean international Park Ji-Sung is now into his fourth season at Manchester United, and he has become one of the most popular members of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad, both with his teammates, and the Old Trafford fans.
What do you think Manchester United as a collective team can achieve this season?
We want to win everything we can, there are four competitions and our aim is to always win every game and every competition.
The club is known for its reach to supporters across the world. Are you proud to play for a club with such a diverse supporter base?
Of course, Manchester United is a Global Club and I am very proud we have supporters from all over the World.
You were born in Korea, played football in Holland and now England. Have you found a vast difference between each country, in terms of the lifestyle and the culture?
Of course each Country is different, although I found the lifestyle and culture in England to be similar to Holland. It is always hard to be such a long distance away from friends and family in Korea
Do you hope your presence in English football will open the doors for more south Asian players?
Yes I hope it will, if I play well here I hope it will inspire other south Asian players to want to play football.
At Old Trafford Manchester United have excellent facilities for their disabled supporters, in particular the use of the Ability Suite. How does it feel to know that those supporters make sacrifices and overcome certain obstacles to come to support you and the team?
I believe everyone should have the chance to watch football, regardless of their disability, Manchester United make it possible for all supporters to have the chance to see matches. I know we have great facilities and we were the first Club to provide a suite for fans with disabilities to make the matchday experience more enjoyable.
Who was your idol or who did you look up to as a child?
Jung Hwan Yeun – he was a Korean footballer in the National team.
What has been the best piece of advice you have ever been given, in terms of your lifestyle or your footballing career?
To work hard to put the best effort into everything I do, so that I can be the best. Practice makes perfect!
