Liverpool FC's close affiliation with the British Asian community is the subject of a new book by Mohammed Bhana.
The Asian Liverbird, which is available now, aims to provide an insight into why Asians feel a connection with the five-time European Cup champions.
The book, an official publication of the club, also has interviews with Liverpool players past and present, including Steven Gerrard, John Barnes and Alan Hansen.
In addition, it has first-hand accounts from prominent Asian fans. Bhana has even managed to get Kenny Dalglish, to write a special foreword in the book.
The 26-year-old journalist had already interviewed a number prominent members of the Liverpool fraternity, and was given the club’s blessing to write the book.
“I always wanted to write the book because I thought the Liverpool FC story was amazing,” said Bhana.
“I had the idea for quite a while. Last year, I approached the club and pitched the idea. I told the club about the unique fan base and how I had ensured LFC was the only club that had engaged with the ethnic media on a regular basis.
