Umbro Fives

Umbro Fives

The FA Umbro Fives 2008 will commence later this month, and registration is now open to anyone will to take up the challenge for a chance to play at Wembley Stadium.

After the success of last year's inaugural competition, this year's event will see hundreds of teams from across the country all competing for the chance to set foot on the hallowed turf at Wembley.

The competition will see a series of regional heats taking place over the next few months, before 24 men's teams and eight women's teams play at Wembley stadium in the Finals event later this year. To find your local heat  click here.

Earlier this week, England and Newcastle striker Michael Owen gave his backing to the tournament, and advised those fortunate enough to earn a place in the finals to savour the moment.

Owen has played five times at the new stadium, scoring three times in games against Estonia and Russia, but says time on the hallowed turf can fly by.

"It is always a fantastic feeling playing at Wembley," said Owen, who has netted 40 goals in 88 appearances since making his debut in February 1998 against Chile.

"Everyone involved should savour the experience because it passes so quickly.

"When you think of all those world-class players who have never got to a Cup Final at the stadium or failed to make an international appearance there it makes you realise what a special place it really is. It is not a prize which is easily dished out, you have to earn it and that makes it an even more rewarding experience."

The regional heats are taking place across the country. To find your local heat  click here.

"Kick It Out is a great example of the differences people can make when they stand up for what they believe in. When I was growing up, football grounds were not welcoming places for young black people. The reality now is entirely different."
