FARE

Kick It Out is a leading member of the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network.

The FARE network dedicates itself to fight racism and xenophobia in football across Europe. Through co-ordinated action and common effort, at local and national level, the network brings together all those interested in combating discrimination in football.

About FARE

In February 1999, football supporters and anti- racism campaigners from across Europe came together in Vienna, Austria, alongside representatives of football associations and players' unions to develop a common strategy for combating racism and xenophobia. At that meeting, the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network was established.

Since FARE was established the network has grown to work with groups in more than 35 countries with the aim of encouraging joint efforts to combat racism and discrimination and to nurture growing opposition to racism from all those involved in the game.

Awards

In August 2001, FARE was presented with UEFA's Monaco Award for the 2001 / 02 season, marking the start of a pro active partnership with European football's governing body. FARE has also been recognised by MTV, through being awarded the prestigious Free Your Mind Award, and the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia, through the Jean Kahn Award.

In 2004, FARE successfully organised an anti- racism programme and - in partnership with Football Supporters International - fan embassies at EURO2004 in Portugal. In the same year, UEFA renewed it's partnership with FARE for three seasons.
