As ever, Kick It Out will be hosting events across the country throughout the One Game, One Community weeks of action for you to get involved in.

2 October 2012

Haberdashers Aske schools event

Location – Butterfly Lane, Elstree, Hertfordshire, WD6 3AF

Details – A panel discussion on diversity in sport.

Time – 1-2pm


10 October 2012

'A Focus on Faith'

Location – Dooley's, Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield, S6 1SW 

Details – A free discussion looking at the role religion has to play in the professional game with Sheffield Wednesday vice-captain Jose Semedo and club chaplain Peter Allen. 

Time – 10am-2pm

'Kick It Out'

Location – Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME), Marsh Way, Rainham, Essex RM13 8EU

Details – Kick It Out teams up with Ford for its annual day-long celebration of diversity.

Time – 10am-4pm

'Raise Your Game' in Gravesend

Location – Guru Nanak Marg (off Saddington Street), Gravesend, Kent, DA12 1AG (use DA12 1EB for Navigator)

Details – Former Watford manager Sean Dyche will be leading a coaching masterclass, with mentoring sessions and FA workshops in First Aid, and Safeguarding and Child Protection also taking place on the day. The event aims to give football hopefuls an insight into the employment opportunities available to them within the game.

Time – 9:30am-5pm

‘Does Your Rabbi Know You're Here?' book launch

Location – Jewish Museum London, 129-131 Albert Street, London, NW1 7NB

Details – The launch of ‘Does Your Rabbi Know You're Here?', a book taking a look at how and why Jewish people have changed football, by Anthony Clavane.

Time – 7-9pm


‘Opening Doors: Opportunities in Football’


Location - Leicester City Football Club, King Power Stadium, Filbert Way, Leicester, LE2 7FL.

Details - Leicester De Montfort University, in partnership with Kick It Out, the Professional Footballers’ Association and Leicester City FC, is running ‘Opening Doors: Opportunities in Football’ to demonstrate the career pathways available in the game.

Time – 9:30am-2pm

City Sikhs – Celebrating British Asian Sporting Success

Location – Exchange House, Primrose Street, London, EC2A 2HS, United Kingdom

Details – 'Celebrating British Asian Sporting Success' is an evening of short inspirational talks and a panel discussion given by leading British Asians in the world of sport.

Time – 6-9pm

‘The Rise of Social Media in Football’

Location - Lankaster Lecture Theatre (University College London), Medawar Building, Malet Place (off Torrington Place), London, WC1

Details – A panel discussion on the rise of social networks in football. Guests include Nick White from Couchmans, a legal firm specialising in sports media, former Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United midfielder Andy Impey, and Nick Hawkins, chief prosecutor for football at the Crown Prosecution Service.

Time – 6:30-8pm

'Anthony Walker Memorial Lecture 2012

Location - Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham, B1 1BB

Details – The sixth annual Anthony Walker Memorial Lecture, hosted by the National Union of Teachers in conjunction with the Walker family and the Anthony Walker Foundation, will be delivered by globally renowned poet Benjamin Zephaniah.

Location – Sheffield Public Enquiry Office, Vulcan House, Room S103 & S104, Riverside Entrance, 6 Millsands, Sheffield, S3 8NU

Details – The Home Office BME staff network is hosting a panel discussion with rugby league legend Ikram Butt focusing on issues around workplace representation and diversity.  

Time – 1-3:30pm


'Think Again!' launch in Manchester

Location – Old Trafford Stadium, Trafford, Sir Matt Busby Way, M16 0RA (Trafford Suite)

Details – An event containing a panel discussion with guests such as Oldham Athletic midfielder Dean Furman, Michael Edelson, a non-executive director at Manchester United, and former Red Devils man Quinton Fortune to launch a free educational resource focusing on combating antisemitism.

Time – 6-8:30pm


'Out of Africa' exhibition launch

Location – The Public, West Bromwich, B70 7PG 

Details – The Out of Africa Campaign, a ground-breaking, Heritage Lottery-funded project, is launching an exhibition 
highlighting the important contribution Africa and its footballers have made to the game in this country.

Location - Resource for London, 356 Holloway Road, London N7 6PA

Details - A solution-focused event to explore the day-to-day challenges of dealing with racist attitudes among young people.

Time - 9:30am-4pm


'2011/2012 – The Year Anti-racism in Football Went Backwards?'

Location – The Queens Head pub, Denman Street, London

Details – A Londonenglandfans debate focusing on the events of last year with Kick It Out chair Lord Herman Ouseley and trustee Paul Elliott.

Time – 6:30-9pm

Details - The Public and Commercial Sevices Union celebrate the weeks of action with a day focused around the importance of diversity.
